OUR STORY

Stillwater Haven’s owner, Lynn, has been an accomplished Class III-IV whitewater boater for 30+ years and considers the Upper Yough her favorite whitewater river. So, it should come as no surprise that she would purchase a plot of land with an 1800’s era Victorian House lovingly built right next to it. When Lynn decided to move to Friendsville and use the “Yough House” as her full time residence, she didn’t realize that the house had structural water damage and neither the history nor the foundation of the house could be salvaged. Putting two and two together, the recommendation was to completely demolish the house and start over from scratch. Lynn was unsure of what to do at that point. Should she build a “little house” for her personal use or should she design and create a place where families and friends could come together to celebrate special occasions and make great memories? It was at that point that she decided to sell her vacation rental property, Lynn’s Pond House, in Fayetteville, West Virginia after serving a wide diversity of guests for over 8 years. This way she could focus on creating a new gathering place for families and friends in a completely new adventure area, one in which she has a personal passion for through her many experiences enjoying the region. Hence the launch of a new venture began with the creation of the riverside retreat in Friendsville Maryland – Stillwater Haven, The name Stillwater Haven originated out of a comparison between the stillness of the water by the house and the challenging rapids several miles upstream. Lynn compared it to the stillness she was experiencing in her own life. She needed to be still and see what God’s plan for her and the house would be. Stillwater Haven was built in 3 phases over a 3 year period and has been open for guests since 2016. It is gaining traction in the luxury vacation home rental market and serving many families and groups of friends. It is a unique property with one of a kind furnishings and accents by skilled artisans and craftsman. Specifically designed for family & friend gatherings and group events, it is a place where fond memories can be made and shared for years to come.

Nestled in the lush and beautiful mountains of western Maryland, Stillwater Haven is a 6000 sq. ft. private luxury vacation home rental near Deep Creek MD, with a maximum occupancy of 25, and rests along the scenic shores of the Youghiogheny Wild and Scenic River corridor. Lynn has a deep-seated desire to serve others and bring joy to their lives. Her chosen method for achieving the expression of her great gift of serving is through the Short-term Rental Business. The primary goal of her passionately created, stunning, well-appointed homes is for families and friends to gather and create life-long memories together, always within an environment of love. She has hosted family reunions, friend gatherings and other special occasions for 12 years in Fayetteville, West Virginia. Lynn is currently hosting guests at her beautiful residence in Friendsville, Maryland – Stillwater Haven. Lynn has been satisfying an attraction to outdoor adventure through her Whitewater Boating and Canoeing interest for over 30 years. She has taken her hobby to the limits by traveling extensively across the US and Ecuador boating creeks and rivers with her friends. Other interests include trail riding with her horses and hiking with her dogs along the beautiful trails where she resides in Friendsville, Maryland. Lynn has over 30 years of experience as a Commercial Insurance Producer & Consultant specializing in coordinating insurance and risk management for the construction industry. Her knowledge in this field has served several multimillion-dollar businesses with the needed guidance and planning for developing networks of personnel and products aimed at efficiently managing her clients ever-changing complex requirements.

Tauga is one of Stillwater Haven's happy greeters. He is very outgoing and loves to be around people. He also loves sticks and will happily keep himself...and you occupied tossing and fetching them.

Jonah is another happy greeter at Stillwater. He can be a little shy at first but he's really a sweetheart. One of his favorite pastimes is snuggling with his stuffed animals.
